Just wondering if anyone has any good tips for ripping sheets of plywood. it's almost impossible to run a full sheet of 3/4 ply through a table saw by yourself. just wondering if anyone has come up with any jigs or straightedges to use to rip with a circular saw. thanks. just wondering if anyone has. We try to discourage our friends from cutting large sheets of plywood on a ts in hopes that they might keep their fingers and hands so they can continue woodworking, or at least updating lj. it�s best to use a circular saw for sheets of plywood too large for your ts.. Even if you own a table saw, sometimes it�s easier to rip large sheets of plywood with a circular saw. the trick to a perfectly straight cut is to clamp a straightedge to the plywood and use it as a guide for your saw..
A full-size sheet of plywood is 8 feet long by 4 feet wide, which can be difficult for one person to manipulate on a table saw (unless you are fortunate enough to have a really large infeed/outfeed table setup!) if your project is small enough, you can buy pre-cut half-sheets (4 feet by 4 feet) or. Many people use a jigsaw or circular saw to break down sheets of plywood into more manageable pieces. smaller "homeowner" size table saws aren't intended for creating large panels. a larger saw with longer fence rails will allow you to rip bigger pieces. i would recommend building a straightedge guide to use with a circular saw.. Once we needed to rip dozens of sheets of 3/4" thick plywood into 12" strips. instead of handling each piece of plywood four times through the tablesaw, we clamped multiple pieces of plywood together, and ran the lighter weight saw over the plywood using the rip-cut..
